Survey says talent management is top workforce concern for 2007
Finding, developing and keeping talent are among the top concerns for human resource (HR) executives for 2007, according to the ORC Worldwide HR Priorities Survey, which annually polls a group of global HR executives from a cross-section of industries.
Every six out of 10 respondents said the most pressing strategic HR issues companies will face in 2007 fall into the realm of "talent management."

Evening Standard and Top-Consultant in consulting joint venture
The Evening Standard and Top-Consultant.com have today announced a partnership that will see a quarterly management consultancy special feature section run in the Evening Standard.
Referring to the announcement, Top-Consultant Director Tony Restell commented: “In recent weeks there has been some very one-sided press coverage of the consulting industry. In striking this partnership with the Evening Standard, our aim is firstly to provide some more balanced coverage of the UK consulting industry – and to talk about all the positive ways in which consulting firms benefit the UK economy and many of our largest corporations. We also want to provide our clients with a new recruitment channel for reaching potential hires - and this new partnership allows us to offer print advertising as well as online advertising solutions.”

Accenture reports record quarterly revenues
The company achieved the highest quarterly net revenues in its history, driven by record net revenues across all three geographic regions and all five operating groups, with exceptional top-line performance from its Financial Services, Products and Resources operating groups. Consulting and outsourcing net revenues were also the highest in any quarter, with double-digit increases in both areas. New bookings were $5.5 billion, with a quarterly record in consulting bookings of $3 billion.

Our management consultancy columnist, Mick James, this week talks to Elizabeth Gooch, Managing Director of eg solutions, about how her company went against the grain and transformed from a consultancy to an IT services and software company.
It’s commonplace these days to come across services and software companies but quite rare to find someone moving in the opposite direction. But that’s precisely what Elizabeth Gooch has done with her company, eg solutions, originally set up as eg consultancy in 1988.

IBM and Siemens Business Services to modernize IT for German army
The German Federal Armed Forces have commissioned a consortium consisting of Siemens Business Services (SBS) and IBM to modernize and manage its non-military information and communications technology. The 10-year contract is worth approximately 7.1 billion euros.
The project is similar in scope to the troubled $9 billion contract EDS got in 2000 to build a computer intranet for the US Navy and Marine Corps.

Mid-sized contract wins accelerate growth of CSC's outsourcing and systems integration business in Europe
Computer Sciences Corporation said it has signed six IT outsourcing and systems integration contracts with leading organizations in Europe with an estimated value of $321 million if all options are exercised. The time periods range from two to seven years and include agreements in the United Kingdom, France and Scandinavia.

Success factors and obstacles for Shared Service Centres

Shared Service Centres (SSC) are booming within the Dutch government. The need to increase the quality of service is a major reason for this. Public organisations are especially hampered, however, by a large amount of internal resistance, reveals research by Atos Consulting. Despite some obstacles there are already more than 50 shared service centres operating within the public sector in the Netherlands.

PwC identifies top seven health industry trends of '07

The year ahead will be a watershed for the health industries, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, as health savings accounts reach a tipping point, states act where the federal government hasn't and pressure on pricing amid demand for transparency forces pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and health plans to rethink their strategies. These are among the top issues identified by PricewaterhouseCoopers' Health Research Institute, which today released its report, "The Top Seven Health Industry Trends of '07."
