Senior/Principal Consultant - Procurement Specialist - Flexible; Headquartered in South West (Exeter)

Total renumeration package circa £90k

Acuity has an exciting opening for a new Senior/Principal Consultant in order to meet growing client demand.

You will be joining a well-established, dynamic and creative consultancy team based in the South West, working on a range of transformational projects for central and local government organisations across the country. You will use your initiative and thought leadership skills to solve challenging and complex business problems. You will be an effective communicator; we pride ourselves not only on defining and implementing strategic and operational plans, but also in enabling our clients to visualise their future, establishing long-lasting relationships in the process.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in the Public Sector, either running or having significant involvement in major procurement exercises, specifically OJEU-compliant procurement using either the Competitive Dialogue or Competitive Procedure with Negotiation. In addition, they will have the following attributes:

  • Ability to deal confidently with complex situations and able to think and lead under pressure, during times of ambiguity or within tight timelines.

  • Experience of working within Local Government, Pensions or Utilities is advantageous.

  • Production of business cases and demonstrable IT transformation skills are preferable.

Key Responsibilities:

Assignment Delivery

  • Develop products in line with the Client’s required timescales and ensure they are delivered using industry-standard techniques that conform to Acuity’s and/or the Client’s quality standards.

  • Undertake quality assurance of products produced by other team members.

  • Manage his/her own time in undertaking the above.

  • Act as Assignment Lead on small and medium-sized assignments, supervising small teams of two or three consultants, mentoring junior consultants where appropriate.

    Business Development:

  • Identifying opportunities whilst delivering assignments.

  • Developing partnership arrangements with other suppliers.

    Corporate Development

  • Contribute to corporate strategy and marketing approach via Acuity’s regular corporate days.

    Key Competencies:

  • Degree-level education and 5-10 years’ experience working in the Public Sector within a consulting environment.

  • Extensive experience of leading project and programme management activities, as well as independently solving complex problems using industry standard techniques (e.g. MSP and PRINCE2).

  • Ability to maintain a strategic business perspective whilst simultaneously managing project delivery.

  • Capable of rationalising, negotiating and prioritising business requirements from multiple stakeholders to inform a realistic and achievable delivery roadmap, resolving conflict between strategic and transformational business requirements.

  • Able to articulate complex concepts in a way that is understood by stakeholders of all levels.
