Strategy Associate - Media and Aeronautical sector - Central London

Role summary:

The Commercial Development team has been identified as a key resource to deliver growth initiatives identified in the Media & Content strategic plan.  The Commercial Development Analyst works within the wider Commercial Development team and with Media & Content division management to support their drive for growth and value creation by supporting the development of growth initiatives, client development plans and their implementation.  The role co-ordinates across all business functions, both within Media & Content, as well and Group functions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Media & Content market analysis & insight:
    • Identify emerging trends impacting the media, technology and telecoms sector and airline industry relevant for them
    • Become the in-house expert on key trends  and use this knowledge to support Media & Content business functions
    • Own key business and financial analysis as key inputs to develop their strategy for responding to the key trends, including product/service development
  • Media & Content growth (existing business):
    • Help identify opportunities to grow the business, e.g. by commercializing the passenger experience, from origin to destination
    • Support the Head of Commercial Development and Media & Content management in client development activities, including working with directly with clients as required
    • Analyze key metrics (e.g. customer, revenue, quality & efficiency) reflecting the drivers of the Media & Content business in order to enhance business understanding & support key decisions
  • Media & Content strategic initiatives
    • Support the development of business cases for strategic initiatives
    • Support the Head of Commercial Development on M&A projects as required, including developing deal rationale, target criteria, synergy cases, execution and post-acquisition operating model design
    • Develop presentations designed to convey key analysis, observations and recommendations to a senior audience


  • Work experience in relevant areas requiring complex analytical thinking, such as strategy consultancy, management consultancy or accountancy (e.g. Big 4 firms)
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree
  • Primary experience and capability required is analytical and financial in nature, therefore a finance qualification would be a distinct advantage although not mandatory e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, CISI, MSc etc.
  • Previous experience of operational change, performance improvement and functional or team management would be an advantage

  • Commercial understanding of key business drivers
  • Genuine interest in and understanding of key trends in the media, entertainment, technology and telecoms markets and the airline industry
  • Ability to think strategically as well as financially and operationally
  • Exceptional PowerPoint and Excel skills
