Strategic Planning Manager - Major Global Travel Company - Central London, no travel required and good work life balance

£50k-£80k plus excellent package

The Manager, Strategic Projects will play a critical role contributing to the success of their journey by helping them to define their strategy and future state, to contribute to key projects, and to effectively communicate to leaders. The role will be based out of London, with a global remit.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and contribute to large, complex Strategic and Transformation projects, encompassing people, process and technology initiatives
    • Take ownership and responsibility for projects / work streams related to the improvement of the customer experience delivered to travelers, transformation of the underlying operating model, and improvement of the business performance
    • Develop strategic frameworks and complete analysis to build high quality written presentations / recommendations
    • Gain commitment to initiatives from key stakeholders and beyond
    • Fulfill project management role where required to support the execution of the strategic plan for a limited period, establishing the initiative before handing it off as business as usual
  • Support the preparation and delivery of reporting
    • Communicate the narrative to a) those in the business, b) senior management
    • Ensure all communications are to an executive standard
  • Develop the team
    • Mentor and support more junior colleagues to ensure resources are in place to develop and progress priority initiatives across the full scope of priorities
  • Be a thought leader, challenging the status quo
    • Build strong internal relationships within  
    • Be intensely curious about making time each day to learn about our business, the competitive marketplace, and external factors that affect us
    • Think and work like an entrepreneur consultant, making the most of the relationships you create and what you learn about us to identify, define and gain support for new transformation initiatives



 Experience & education:

  • Experience - Required
    • Educated to degree standard in a relevant subject
    • Significant experience in a strategic or business analyst role (strategy consulting        preferred)
    • Real world experience leading strategic initiatives
    • Communication to an executive audience
  • Languages
    • English fluent
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities: 
    • Strong commercial acumen with excellent analytical skills
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills
    • Strong team player, with a proactive and collaborative approach to working
    • Ability to work with individuals at all levels within a matrix organization, and across different cultures and geographies
    • Effective project management skills, including ability to manage multiple projects, react quickly and effectively to changing priorities
    • A hands-on operating style, able to roll-up their sleeves and dive in the detail where needed
    • Ability to move nimbly from ideation to execution by leveraging story-boarding and presentation skills, organizational skills and project management capabilities
    • Self-motivated, with aptitude to independently research complex business and financial problems and provide clear summaries of the findings
    • Confident with dealing with stakeholders at all levels
    • Actively develops personal knowledge, skills and abilities to continuously improve and grow
    • Ambitious and results-driven with a real energy and drive
