Anyone heard anything about recent cuts? Just heard through friends of friends that there have been crecent cuts at numerous levels of consultant and manager - people I know of are all in financial services practices. Seem to think minimal announcement was made to allow jobseekers to apply elsewhere?

Firstly its Deloitte; secondly heard something similar - some grads were made redundant with 1 day notice, hope it is not true!

Definitely manager grades involved in the redundancies - have a pal who just avoided it but was worried. Not sure of numbers.

They will use their year end to reduce head count. The back stabbing and brown nosing has started already.

Which competency groups within Deloitte consulting are making people redundant? I have heard Strategy is doing really bad and Ops, TI are holding well?

Grade inflation is clearly evident. However I do not know if that will be considered during the round tables. So you may have worked your bottom off and did a good job and received a ME, because your manager thinks "getting an ME is great, because that means you are doing exactly what you are paid to do" and someone else who may have put in less effort in another project gets an EE because their manager cant be bothered to tell them the truth, well tough luck!!

Very interesting.See earlier thread regarding salaries at Deloitte where people - including myself - had responded to a job advert on Monster for consultancy, including manager roles. It actually requested in the advert experience within FS.Clearly from what was said by HR regarding salaries during phone interview there was something 'going on' but I would suggest worth looking into by those in situ.Good luck, and glad I was put off by such low salaries.

Re Hal - fine. Grade inflation has been far lower this year in most areas.. I know people who last year would have got a lot of SEE's but this year have been pushed down due to "tougher" rules. No fear.

I would highlight that question again before we continue the (healthy) debate about grade inflation - "have cuts actually taken place yet?"
