End of the consultation period on Wednesday. Good luck everyoneDo you think our partners should offer to take a pay cut this year as they have steered this once top tier company into the muck?

Will they publicise who's out? Noticed they've removed the leaving dates of people who have left from EIS.

Colleagues might wish to say farewell to colleagues, or colleagues might want to know what has happened to colleagues? Rather than people dissappearing into thin air. As I discovered on two separate ocassions this year with overseas colleagues. Why the secrecy? It's all above board, is it not? All red face tests have been passed? Unless someone expressly requests to be omitted, why suppress the truth?

These posts just show the worst site of this site - pointless gossiping. Why on earth would I need to see the names of those who have left? And why should my name be given to everyone? Those who I count as friends I will know about because they will tell me. How can we get this site back to talking about important things and being a good place to go for advice?

"How can we get this site back to talking about important things and being a good place to go for advice?"Probably best to substitute "this site" with "PA". Two birds with one stone, then. Perhaps start with not being disingenous with your employees and see where that gets you. Happy days.

So after all the "PA is finished" build up from BOPer over the last few weeks, 3 people get made redundant from one of the worst performing practices. That's similar to those who'd leave anyway under the performance system. Can't beat a bit of overreaction. If BOPer hasn't been sacked, can he or she please resign and spare us all?

Can you not understand that if the PA recruitment process leads to a large percent of the work force being "incompetent" that itself says a lot about PA.Or of course they aren't really incompetent but just unfortunate to find themselves on the bench at the wrong time, and nit sucking up to partners. Say they have legitimately got rid of all the under performers this time, and aren't recruiting. Have you worked out yet that next year that means they have to find under performers to sack from people they've said are above the bar this year.First they came for people in BOP and I said nothing, then they came for..."

There have been a whole deluge of PIPs issued over the past month, and a number of written warnings given around utilisation which is a real cheek as the only way staff can be utilised is if our lazy partners sell work.

"a number of written warnings given around utilisation..."Unbelievable and completely contrary to natural justice! No-one deliberately puts themselves on the bench, people can only be utilised when there is work for them to do and the partners are largely responsible for ensuring this. Giving warnings for low utilisation is like spitting in a strong wind, it will end up landing back on them and making them look ugly and ridiculous.

The secret to gaining and maintaining utilisation is to network effectively internally. You can't just sit in your practice day after day asking your resource manager if the practice partners have sold any work that day.Very few of the jobs I worked on at PA came out of my own practice and I always managed to keep myself busy (with not a single public sector process map in all the time I was there!).If you're good you'll be busy, if not, you won't!

Yep, success at PA doesn't depend on how good you are but on if your face fits, and generally that means having gone there straight from university and toadying your way up. Just how caring are they? Well when the tube bombs went off the MC tutors on the internal training course I was on in 123 decided it was best not to tell us because it might have disrupted the course. They had, of course already been able to tell their families they were OK

Direct entry grads are very much in the minority within PA. In the 3 years I was there I didn't once work with anyone straight out of Uni, and I certainly never met an MC or Partner who had only ever worked for PA?!!It's fine to give reasons as to why you didn't like PA, I know I have mine, but don't start making stuff up!

That's true, a lot of the MCs and partners had left PA for proper jobs in the outside world and then came scurrying back at a higher grade. On the other hand those who came in with experience wholly outside of PA rarely stayed long.

Back on topic it seems as if the redundancies are well below the scaremongering levels put on here. Indeed our friend BOPer would appear to be talking out of his or her backside. Yeah yeah, it's all being done on the hush hush, it can be the only explanation. And isn't it fantastic that some people don't/ didn't like working there and are sad enough to come on here and change the topic every time anything remotely PA comes up, one would think they wouldn't be scouring MC forums if they're all in bigger, better jobs as they all claim. Also, there seems a remarkable amount of them have the same writing style too - funny that.

Yes - I too noticed that there was a serial apologist posting on here. Rubbish writing style as well - this Smithers would never make it as a copywriter. I hope he's not getting paid to do this. There's at least four different writing styles on here anyway. Wouldn't make it as an editor either.

" it seems as if the redundancies are well below the scaremongering levels put on here."If the company has ended up making less than the 6% that it announced it was doing then that is good. But until the company announces something different then thems the facts. I'm sure that must be the case as nobody has left for months according to the internal information. Looking forward to the good news email confirming all this.

I thought he was being ironic.PA might be stronger after the blood letting, but the question is where will they be compared to the competition? Have they handled the downturn better or worse than competitors and where does it place them to exploit the upturn when it comes?I guess BP must be insulating them from the worst of the recession.
