Just heard about the T-C virtual careers fair and am very interested. Does anyone however know exactly how this works? Is it like a chat room or a 3D world with avatars and characters like Second Life or something? Or is it a webcast or even done by e-mail or discussion boards or something like that? Would be grateful for any info anyone has. Thank you

Hi Cybertron,I see the words getting out about our Virtual Fair - it's the 3rd one we've run and it's a great technology. It's not like second life but very much like a real fair just online. In the coming weeks we'll be opening up the registration page and you can register your CV. Then you'll be sent your logins and the URL you need to go to for the fair (25th Sept for manned stands but the fair will be open the whole week after so you can visit and make applications just without chatting to people). You can have "real time chats" like MSN/Skype with exhibitors and there are voice chat and video capabilities if your laptop has a webcam and a microphone.Hope that helps and keep an eye on the events page and in our weekly newsletter for more details.Sarah :)

Cooool, so basically you can click on stands and stuff and have an instant messaging or skype/video chat with the people virtually manning the stands? Can you also "listen in" on what other people are asking the exhibitors or is it all 1-2-1 private chat?I think I will need to dig out my webcam and tidy up the stuff behind me... want to make a good impression. May have to put a shirt and tie on too even if I'm working from home. HeheThanks again for the helpful reply Sarah, hope to "meet" you at the virtual fair soon!

Spot on! It's 1-2-1 chats and you can't listen in on other candidates but you can block exhibitors (like current employers) from seeing you.Definitely worth making sure your background of your webcam pic is all sorted! Impression management is key :)Come and say hi to the us at the TC stand.Sarah.
