There are plenty of them - try looking on efinancialcareers.com or similar, google etc. Purcell are a well known one.

Are you looking for help hiring or help finding a role? Most search firms/consultants (myself included I must say) don't generally get involved with helping individuals find jobs - it's not what recruitment firms do. If you are looking for a search firm to place you it's unlikely you'll find one at all.

Anon - there are hundreds. Greenwich Partners was a bit of a random name drop, hardly the first name that would spring to mind. I think they're a one man band who do any level they can, not particularly >£100K specialist. If you're looking for specialist recruitment companies I'd suggest narrowing down your search further than "Financial Services roles paying 6 figures".

Not trying to put you off your search, but these roles are like rocking horse droppings at the moment. NO retail bank will pay anywhere near 100K for senior managers in stat, more like 80K max base and a bonus of 20%, although this will be zero for a few years (or paid in locked in shares)IB's will pay this sort of money, but there is stiff competition. Lots of ex -consultants move into banking and take a drop in income in order to a) improve work/life/travel balance and b) to take one step back to take two steps forward. However I recommend that you contact Jamie Stokes at The River Partnership. Jamie is ex-Astbury Marsden and founded TRP. Don't know how well they are doing, but this is their level and he is one of the best recruiters I've ever worked with. Certainly when at AM, he did sell candidiates into clients (got me an offer at one, but I went elsewhere!)....but it was all so different then!

Any supposed HH with time and inclination to 'sell' candidates in to companies is frankly average - I'm stretched just to cover my retained work for clients and wouldn't even contemplate 'selling' candidates.

Mars a Day,You might be right but consider the following. There are some perfectly good HH's who will "sell" candidates. Usually they do this when the candidate is in a position to provide a few target names in ex-clients, but where the candidate recognises that a good HH will do the approach better. Often the HH will get over pre-conceptions associated with the previous relationship. They will also often handle salary discussions better and they may also use the initial intro to find a more appropriate contact. You might say that the candidate is"giving away" a free commission to the HH, but I for one recognise that a good HH should be able to put an extra 10% on my new package, not to mention smooth objections etc. At least twice a HH has fought my corner when it all got a bit political and by going up a few levels managed to get me the job offer (jealous and protective peer interviewees!!)I've asked to be "sold in" twice (as a candidate) and once it got me a job I really wanted, the other time it provided me with a reality check!!

Holker Watkin specialises in client side strat. roles. They have a very good reputation, so much so that MBBB point their “counsel outs” in their direction.

I agree with Mars in that good headhunters do not sell candidates into organisations. We are paid to find specific people for specific roles and frankly to sell in candidates would place us in the same bracket as high street recruiters who claim to be headhunters. Any good headhunter even in this sort of market would still have plenty of work without having to sell people in.

Headhunter sounds like he is one small step above a high street recruiter. That battery farmed Astbury Marsden / McGregor Boyall / Aston Carter type who thinks that cold calling people in addition to posting an advert is called Headhunting. In fact the "I have lots of requirements to work on so have no time to build relationships with candidates" isn't one that's taken by the top Search firms in the world. Funny that. When my client asked me to find him a new role a few months ago, I made the time to "sell him in" to a few new companies. He starts a new role at the end of the year, I have a nice fee and a new client out of it and everybody's happy. Hardly high street.Good Headhunters will sell in great candidates. If we know what we're doing it's actually as easy as finding someone for a particular requirement.

What?Actually I do work for one of the largest executive search firms in the World (think Heidricks, Spencer Stuart etc) so not just above high street brands. I am not suggesting that we should not build relationships with candidates, what i am saying is that we devalue our brand and services as headhunters if we sell candidates into companies therefore not providing a clear distinction between recruitment and executive search!

Nope I’m not from Holker Watkin: I’m happy to help out which after all is quite a major point of this forum and they are highly regarded in their field ie placing consultants client side. Your second comment scarcely bears comment given that many business leaders are MBBB cast offs. Given that you are too busy to market candidates with all your fantastic retained work you are struggling to find time to service we are clearly honoured that you can find the time to make your copious and constructive contributions to this humble blog

Effective time management. And in my case this forum is a great way to get my brain activity to an absolute minium within seconds. After that I have a good laugh about the idiots in the world and I'll crack on with work.
