What are people's view on having an online betting company on the CV? Would this be a career limiting move or are companies more open minded today?

surely it depends on what you did and what value you brought to the company, and the new role you are aiming your CV at

I agree with the last post, most important will be your particular contribution to the company, regardless of industry. Also depending upon what type of betting site it was you can potentially put a spin on it. Financial Spread betting companies like City Index, IG etc... also do Arbitrage, FX and CFDs so you can emphasise this aspect more if your still worried.

This would be for a gambling site - sports / casino stuff. Not sure if you could transfer from this to spread betting / FX stuff ?

It obviously depends upon the betting company and the exact nature of the subject matter - if it's William Hill online than that option isn't going to be available to you. However Bet Fair for example also owns and runs Trade Fair which is Financial Spread betting. Other than subject matter Financial Spread betting is no different to Sports Spread betting and many of the Financial Spread companies grew out of sports spreads. However it obviously depends upon the company, you need to investigate exactly all of its offerings.

It depends on your role. If you were working as a professional gambler and simply happened to be using the company as your betting agent/platform for placing bets, that might raise more eyebrows than if the company chose to employ you "on the books".

no such thing as a pro gambler, the house always wins overall! In a similar vein to the original question, what are peoples thoughts on voluntary work abroad? Does it actually add to the weight of a (graduate) application? Or just fluffy add ons?
