Im an undergraduate. I had an assessment day today with Mouchel - interesting experience indeed. Im not sure im going to be offerred the internship. In the unlikely scenario that i am, im now even debating the merits.I was thus hoping for advise. How possible is it for me to attain a short vacational stint/work shadowing experience with the smaller boutiques? Does anyone know of any opportunities still available? Many Thanks for the input.

It will be very difficult to find vacation work with the boutiques as they only offer a few opportunities (few have the resources - or need - to support student positions). If you have any networks into these firms (parents who are clients, etc.), your best shot is to work them for all you're worth.However, any work experience you gain - even at Mouchel - will help you stand out given how few students will have secured placements and internships this year.

Im more than happy to offer my services for free (my little publicity pitch for any sympathetic consultants out there!) but i guess its the strain on resources. Fingers crossed i land mouchel. In any case though, do we have any suggestions as to what somebody in my position can do during the summer to improve employment prospects - in the absence of work experience?Thanks again.

most grads recruited into consulting will not have specific consulting internshipsany internship with a blue chip company will be looked upon positively but at this stage I doubt you will find any - most of the summer and 1 yr internship recruitment occurs Dec-Martry find something useful to do - a volunteer internship abroad doing anything (where they just pay yr accomodation) would be decent I guess
