Hi, I'm a recent science (with a large programming element etc in degree) grad and planning to do a PhD in a years time. However obviously I need a job for a year in the mean time, the recruitment agent Ive been conversing with has got me a couple of interviews are various consultancies. One of which is Detica, who I think Im potentially going to get an offer from.(obv I dont plan to tell them about the PhD)My question is, is it worth all the effort joining a consultancy if it's just for a year? Also just how much travel is involved? i.e. will I literally be moving to say Leeds for 3 months, then London for another 6 months, then London for 3 months etc etc.....I mean how can you survive that lifestyle? I dont mind commuting, and I dont mind occassionally having to go stay somewhere for a month or two, but I feel I need a permanent home so to speak. a base.I am only really interested in tech type consulting, am I selling myself short with Detica? it's not in the big 4 right? What about accenture? any other better ones? Also, is there any thing at all in the Northwest?
