I have just finished my grad studies doing a BBA (Finance). How should i equip myself to get a job i the MC industry?. What further qualifications do i require. Is the MC industry the ultimate one to work in?. What achievements/qualifications do MC co's look for?. How do i go about getting this job?

I'll try and answer this before someone flames.i) apply for graduate jobs from the consultancies; as long as you have a 2:1 or better and are a confident young chap, you'll stand a chance.ii) at this stage you don't really need further qualifications for a grad role, although an accountancy qualification from the Big4 is often considered positive for the more quantitative MC roles (i.e. finance & performance management, M&A, etc. as opposed to the more 'blue sky' MBBAs)iii) ultimate industry? that's a stupid question, but I'll answer it... It depends what you want out of life; MC careers will give you a broad range of capabilities & a decent salary. I think the 'ultimate' industry is whatever you find personally find interesting.iv) achievement/qualifications pointing to intelligence & confidencev) see i) - although it's a tight market at the moment

Yes, it is indeed the ultimate industry to work in.You might benefit from doing a second BA or BSc degree, perhaps in something like economics. Then get your PhD and you'll be ready to go. After a few years you would probably benefit from an MBA too.So I would say you have another 6 or 7 years to go yet.

OK Eric, I'll give you a straight answer.Your degree is fine.Other achievements will help you stand out, but are not strictly necessary. Why not just apply to a few firms and see where you get?Regarding MBAs etc, these are helpful, but there are many, many MCs who do not have them. Many people who do MBAs do them because they have non-business undergrad degrees and need a boost up the ladder. Your degree in Finance makes it less of a necessity for you to get an MBA in my opinion. But as always, the more quals you have, the more likely you are to stand out.

See, i will tell you what my story is. I am a resident of India. My college is not that well reputed. Although i have been a bright student, the handicap of my undergraduate qualification is a great barrier. None of the Mc's even want to look at your resume, if your not ftom the top college. I was at the wrong college. People in my class didnt even know what an MC was. I am ambitious, and am obviously aware of such avenues. I have been job hunting in this market for 2 months. Frustration has exasperated me. The only place i can probably get through is a back end job, where i do research for MC firms. Data collection, reports etc. Even such jobs (business analyst) are hard to come by. I am seeing my dream being shattered in front of my own eyes. i dont want to start a job which does not take me where i want to go. What's the point?. I need to find out what i SHOULD DO?

A non-MBA Masters presumably. Try LSE or ESCP-EAP - you can basically turn up and buy the qualification off the shelf there.
