I would like to know once the contract has been signed, reference checks completed and joining instructions about to be sent - where do the pre-employment verification checks take place? i get the impression this does not fall under contacting your references! What are the main reasons that a company may withdraw a job offer if your references are satisfactory. I know people who have put slightly different job titles on their CVs for current employers - is this a reason to withdraw a job offer?Thanks,Questions

Depends how different the job titles are. Rule of thumb - bigger the difference the more likely the background check agency/prospective employer will want to investigate further and validate the job description given with the employer.For example, claiming to have been a Marketing Director when you were an Admin Assistant is going to be an issue.Putting your job title down as something generic and understandable such as "Marketing Analyst" when your real title was something more company-specific and obscure such as "Brand Ambassadorship Assistant" is going to be less of an issue as it's apparent that the real and cited roles are equivalent.
