Got an offer for the ATK and probably an option for Wyman to start at graduate level in Germany - which one would you chose?

I'd go for ATK. That's just a personal preference based on culture (more collaborative) - they're both good brands.

Well I don't know much in detail about either other than they're both great firms and you'll do brilliantly in either! As a guess... Wyman is maybe more finance-focused than ATK and so may still carry some of the 80's yuppie long hours 'sleep is for wimps' culture? Whereas ATK is very American and may have a "we're doing you a favor by letting you work here so if you don't like it then get out" kind of culture?Just informed guesses though!Good luck and well done!

Historically speaking, OW tends to do more financial based work and projects. ATK has been seen as doing a lot of operations projects but they have been working across a lot more areas for a while.

Hi Thomas,I work in management consulting in Germany - mainly agree with the posts above: ATK tends to do a lot of operations projects (supply chain, procurement etc.) for industry clients while MOW is strong in Financial Services. Culture in ATK is very hands-on, not to sure about MOW. Both are of similar size (500 staff, EUR 200 m). Both brands are relatively unknown - McK, BCG and Roland Berger are the companies most HR-people will know, ATK probably is the better of the two in terms of brand as they used to be number 3 or 4 in the market some years back

although the German operations similarly small (by turnover MOW is number 9, Bain 10, and ATK 11) Bain has a very good reputation among students and clients alike (although it is not as widely known as McK, BCG or RB). Client base seems very financial services biased (I work in process industries and never met any Bain-people).@ blahbyes relatively unknown – as I wrote the big brands are McK, BCG or RB, Bain and Booz also have a good reputation. Of course everybody familiar with the consulting industry will know ATK, but few people outside.

I believe you're being informed unilaterally and have to speak in favour of OWFS, which is where I work. I cannot compare ATK and OW on any scale as I have no experience with the former, but you need to keep in mind that especially OWFS is build around content specific collaboration on a global level. Project teams make extensive use of mail-based discussion rooms with content questions, and I'm always impressed how much response comes back from personnel at all levels. Also, keep in mind that a major part of our compensation is shared across the firm (we have a shared bonus pool that yields 60-70% bonus on our base salary), and you sense that people have a strong interest in the entire firm doing well.On a more junior level (I joined recently), you sense a collaborative environment among very strong performers. Therefore, I'd be careful with your decision based on the input you got so far and wish you best of luck with your decision.

Wow, it's like being a child in a candy-shop! I don't know whether to start tearing into the structure or the content of those thoughts first. I'll be polite and let others go first.Needless to say, a great example of OW shooting itself in the foot (again).

I'm disappointed to see that OW's recruiting standards seem to have slipped so far, even if we are only looking at the bottom end.OW is no MBBB, but the post above is not representative of the calibre of most staff who I worked with on the general management consulting side of the business. Even the mailroom staff weren't as transparently thick when I was there.

Apologies if my earlier post sounded unfriendly or "thick" - absolutely not my intention. I just felt that it would be good to share some first-hand insights, sorry again.
