I see. And you didn't pick up this information in either your rigorous research or indeed in your offer letter and contract?Either DC are recruiting idiots these days (not impossible), or you're the most over-optimistic candidate ever ("I will be joining" suggests you assume you'll make it through the assessment).

You can always count of some arrogant prick like the Guv’nor chipping in second with something productive. I think the programme starts in August when the new analysts do a CIMA foundation course in London and then go away to, I think, Belgium, to do their case study training. Not sure of the salary yet as I hate asking in interviews. Depending on where you’re based I think it’s mid to high 20s. They advertise it as a leading graduate salary so take from that what you will. If anyone knows exactly what it is I’d love to know the figure.

The fact that the 1st poster is being presumptive in that they'll join DC this year, and the fact, Desmond, that you don't really know all too much what you're talking about means that if I am lumped with either of you two clowns come September I will be severely pissed. FYI the salary for DC can be found if you do something called a 'search' (difficult concept to grasp I know). Also, it depends what stream you're going into as for start date - Ops, EA and strat start in August while TI start in Sept.

Anon, perhaps the first poster has been offered a position with Deloitte and is waiting on confirmation of start date and salary. Perhaps? Just considering the options before I slate people. I’m not exactly sure what you meant by your remarks directed at me, the CIMA foundation course in August and Case Study practise in Sep is a fairly comprehensive break down of how analysts will be spending their first few months with the company. This will be the case for most new starts, except TI. Maybe it’s an argument you’re after, or maybe you just enjoy sniping at people on message boards because it makes you feel superior. Either way, the feeling is mutual, the major drawback of consulting, as I see it, is the abundance of self-important pricks like yourself who are hopelessly lost up their own backsides.

Desmond, if you have any modicum of intelligence you'd realise that all the information the original poster requested is available, either here (in the case of salary) or on the Deloitte website. On a separate note, if you believe that a 'leading graduate salary' is in the mid to high 20s then you really need to get your facts straight before dishing out nonsense pal.

What is your point exactly? Not to reply to any thread where the information may be otherwise available? It’s a forum, if you don’t like it, don’t read it. How about making a constructive comment instead of waiting for someone to volunteer an opinion and anonymously critiquing it. Prick.

Tothe lovely person who replied to my post first: a) I doubt you will ever be offered a position with your attitude b) yes, I have already been made an offerc) in the offer letter it actually doesn't state salary and starting date, otherwise I wouldn't have asked...!So next time before you call someone an idiot try to think that people might have a reason to ask what they did and they are not just too lazy or too dumb to read it themselves in their contract. Many compliments to your parents, they must be very proud of you.

To the original poster:You didn't ask what your salary or start would be when the offer was made? It's not too much to ask, I'm starting in Sept and I asked both of these things when I got the offer.Btw, the offer letter does state the salary. If you don't believe me I'll scan it and email you a copy. As for Desmond. There's no need for your language. Previous posts of yours suggest that you should be in MBBB with a 2.2. I rest my case.

To In defence of Guv'nor:The Partner who called me to offer the role to me said it will be around £31k (+£600), which was last year's grad salary, but they have not decided the exact amount yet. It will definitely be at least as much as last year. -> and that's why I was asking if anyone knew that the salary was this year...My offer letter just confirmed what the Partner said. (Maybe you have a different one?) I also contacted HR with regards to the start date, and I was told it has not been decided yet. It could be anywhere between August and October -> those were HR's words, so I thought I'd take them with a pinch of salt and ask people on this forum if they perhaps knew more about it.But obviously there are plenty of people around who have a lot of anger in them and cannot wait to insult, without thinking first that I might have had a good reason to ask those questions.Hope this makes things clearer.

Two people with the same name, what a coincidence. Unfortunately for me there is a more famous Desmond on these message boards, I’m working on that, but I can assure you that we are two separate entities. I, unlike Desmond no.1, don’t have a 2.2, if I did I wouldn’t be chasing career in consulting (sorry Des but it’s elitist enough without people having that as a stick to constantly beat me with). In an outlandish move of courage I am actually using my real name on these forums, I’m trying to start a trend but don’t think it’s catching on. Would be a strange place if people had to use their own names, might not be so loose with their tongues.I genuinely apologise if my language insulted anyone though. This argument seems to have run its course. Getting boring now but hopefully “me” hasn’t been discouraged from posting for fear of being ridiculed by characters like “the Guv’nor”. That was my concern and reason for getting involved.Over and out.
