Stress X-press

How can I deal with my stress and boredom at work?So far I've dealt with it by screaming inside my head the following lyrics over and over again:"I got the hots for youBoop boop b-boop bep b-bep ah ah"Every now and then I also add:"Countdown is progressingUno dosUno dos tres quatro"It is like there is a full-scale 150dB rave/techno party going on inside my head, whilst I sit quietly at my desk in this dull, silent, lifeless office.Tips please? I surely can't be the only one who feels this way.

Nope, drug free and I'm a tee-totaller. I think I may be over-compensating for the lack of stimulation in this office.

Stress X-pressThis sounds so familiar! My solutions, in no particular order (sort of all worked for me):- create a complex excel spreadsheet calculating how much you are being paid to be stressed / bored for each 5 minutes of the working day- if you can see out the window, stare a bit more- think of a convincing and compelling way of explaining your job to strangers / children in a positive light- leave everything to the last minute and get a slight buzz out of the fleeting excitement of getting it done / thinking up excuses (see above)- write a covering letter and send your cv to a couple of companies- go and speak to compelling members of opposite / same gender, depending on preference. This is easily the most fun- get a couple of MS Messenger buddies and keep in touch with them throughout the day. If you have too much time, this is the biggest killer of time I know, especially if your typing's a bit rubbish- join a gym and pop out before and after lunch

Nice suggestions! So far I've been heavily researching different types of bank accounts on the internet and getting my finances in order. So far I've consolidated 2 accounts and increased my savings interest rate by 0.05%. Your suggestions will keep me going for at least a few more weeks, so thank you for those. Are there any other little tasks I can do to improve my personal life whilst being paid to stare at a screen completely motionless for 12 hours a day? I was thinking about maybe internet shopping, but this is more obvious than if somebody catches me on some kind of financial products comparison website.

You could also go onto this board and post endless queries about starting salary and bens at x, y and z consultancy. Everyone seems to be doing it! I think it may be the new black!

Get headphones. Take couple of breaks a day with few minutes of intense music.Or maybe it would be acceptable to have the headphones resting on your shoulders/neck. That way your ears are clear and you hear everyone and you don't appear to be listening to music. ...while in fact you are - it would be muffled but still better than hours of absolute silence.
