I am doing an internship with ACN in the summer. My dilemma is that my girlfriend is graduating on a weekdayfairly early on in placement. Would it be frowned upon for me to ask for a day off? I presume people don't normally take time off during the 8 weeks?

Explain the situation when you start.They should allow you the time off.They are not monsters ... mostly.

For pity's sake man - pull yourself together! It is one day off, nobody is going to mind provided you give a bit of notice. And if they were to say no - do you really want to end up working for a firm that treats people like that?I find this irritating because Accenture is FULL of spineless types who agree to work every late night / weekend that's thrown at them, only to bitch and complain about it later. The culture is never going to change if people don't stand up for themselves.Over 8 weeks you are going to accrue about 5 days of holiday and you have every right to use some of it. Another thing to remember is that virtually everyone on these schemes gets a graduate job offer - unless you make a massive c*ck up it's already in the bag. So relax and enjoy your summer!
