I am currently working in the not for profit sector and have international experience, Canada and the UK, in change management, strategic development, systems development and leadership. I have an MA in Management and Leadership and 13 years work experience. I am investigating the possibility of becoming a consultant as I feel my expertise in the health/mental health/criminal justice fields would be beneficial to clients and would enable me to receive some recognition for 14 hour days.I was hoping for some advice. Where do I start? I have been looking at the job postings, and I am not sure where I should be focusing. Should I apply for consultant? Thanks in advance for your time,

Beth, You have several options open, largely on the lines of the experience you list. I would search through companies that have this sort of offering, decide where you want to focus, and apply accordingly. You should find quite a few options, and you will probably have to filter down by making some decisions on large/small firm, specialist offering/generalist practice, local base and clients or more widespread etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks NG for the reply. I am sifting through the various firms now. Perhaps what I am really seeking is some reassurance that my experience and education are something that a MC firm would look at and be interested in. I am also looking for some some suggestions of firms that would be ideally suited for my background. Any suggestions?Again, many thanks for your feedback and time, it is appreciated.
