That doesn't sound right. You are entitled, by law, to statutory sick pay for 28 weeks (don't get too excited -- statutory sick pay is a whopping £70.05 per week).Most employers pay your full salary while you are sick, at least for a period of time. At my previous firm, I was entitled to full pay for the first 6 weeks of illness in a given year, dropping to 25% of my full pay for the next 20 weeks. At my current job, the terms are rather more generous -- I'm entitled to full pay for 26 weeks followed by 50% pay for the next 26 weeks, after which I need to claim against my critical illness insurance.I would go back and double-check with the company. A quick call to the HR department should clear it up.
