consultant...

Hi, I am desperately looking for a career in change/strategy management; being a new graduate and having gone onto do an MBA straight after my degree, at the age of 24, I am having great trouble breaking into the industry. What/how/who do I need to apply through to becomme a consultant? All the top firms only want to hear from top Oxford students with 5 A-Levels, even though I have a First class honours, I have no A-Levels, only GNVQs...What should I do please? [From London]

Where did you do MBA? How come straight after uni?Don't worry about Oxford.Your GNVQ's translate into UCAS points, and normally recruitment websites specify entrance requirements in terms of those:http://www.bstubbs.co.uk/half.htmI can't understand why a first class grad with an MBA can't get a job - what have you omitted?

to be honest, its a total myth that big 4 only want oxford / cambridge graduates...i recently joined one of hte big 4, and in my start group of 59, there were no oxford / cambridge graduates. The perception i get is they want people who are well rounded indviduals, not just outstanding academics!
