Fellow Job SeekersI went thru Michael Page a few months ago - I have been strung along for about 5 months now! The whole time I have been told I am a perfect match, takes weeks for the consultancies to respond, wait till January till hiring starts, etc. The recruiters also cant ever be bothered to return phone calls. In addition to advertising their super service (CV review, discussion and coaching with candidate, remarketing the candidate) - none of this was ever offered. (Same goes for HAYS). It would have been nice if they had at least told me that the consultancy had rejected the application - at least I wouldnt have wasted time phoning them back. To all you Recruiters.... I hope you take this as constructive, and at least have the courtesy to call your CUSTOMERS!!! To all the Recruitment Companies - I won't be investing in your stock, and certainly wont be recommending your services.

Hi,Speaking from a recruiter point of view, I have to say that all your points are fair - being left in limbo when searching for a position is very frustrating and receiving no communication is infuriating. I think lack of empathy between recruiter and candidate is a major contributor to scenarios like yours, I'm sorry you received so little courtesy.Don't write recruiters off however, as some may have access to jobs you would like. When speaking to them, outline your concerns (politely and calmly), say that you would like to be kept in the loop regardless of outcome and you'd appreciate it if they kept the communications line open - most recruiters avoid calls because they dislike awkward conversations. Remove this potential barrier at the outset and you may notice a difference.Good luck

Hi,I agree your situation is far from ideal and I also agree with Jonathans comments. I would additionally point out however (and this doesnt justify your poor treatment but may go some way to explain it none-the-less) that in most cases the recruiters customers are actually the companies, not the candidates. Just a point to bear in mind for the future.Regards.

All fair points...however, if it weren't for jobseekers, the recruiters would not be in business either. Sure the recruiters may have jobs I am after - but obviously they are not interested in pursuing non consultancy background candidates. Which is odd, considering that the Job Ad usually says Industry experience is good too.

sure the companies are the customers....this sort of transactional napproach is reinforced so often that it becomes normal...in business, acknowledgement of another human is siurely the cornerstone of relationship building....or is that another silo, for another time...
