Hi, I have two graduations, one in Computer Science and other in Law. Right now I am working as Software Engineer but not satisfied with this field. I want to make my career in Law. Would any one like to advise me what should I do. Whats the best choice.

Law grads earn the highest amount, on average in the UK at £65k base salary + bonuses [average city bonus is £20k]. Software engineers earn around £30k salary + stock options [stock options useless in this climate, but in the late 90's made engineers millionaires, and it will happen again in the late naughties].So, if Law is your passion then I think it is a wise choice to pursue that career, given the copmensation package.Large Solicitor firms have graduate schemes, and the most well known one, I believe is at Clifford Chance, Canary Wharf.They will give you £7k or so to go to Law School before joining the company. Applicants must be shit hot to get in - so good luck!

If you want to get into corporate law then you will need to apply two years ahaed for the bigger well known firms and they will fund your LPC but will also usually tell you where to do it. If you want to start Sep 2008 then you will need to start looking now as applications are open. If you want to do the LPC in Sep then you need to be quick as the first deadline has passed already, as my friends inform me.You will need some experience in a legal environment whether that be work experience, vac schemes or anything else that you can get.The money is alright but take into account firm lifestyles - all law students have heard of the late night calls to do work (which turns out to be photocopying) and all nighters are not uncommon in some departments. Some firms even have beds in the office (the firm previously mentioned for example).This is just what I know from considering law as a career myself and also from the experience of my peers - we are studying law.Good Luck
