I am currently considering two offers with:-1. KPMG - CIO Advisory team. New team of around 15 people focused on (as the name suggests) on offering advisorial services;2. CapGemini - Consulting services team Anyone with any thoughts or ideas on the two and what I should consider in deciding (other then money)?
For one, I am sure the forum would like to know your background, experience as well as the level and package offered at each firm.
How can be accurately respond to your post without such info?
For a more generic response, KPMG are rebuilding their consultancy services. This could mean there are lots of opportinuity for you to show initiative and take ownership. In other words you would have more responsibility as CIO Advisory is a relatively small and new (but growing) team.
Downside is rebuilding does take time and you may find the lack of roles let alone the lack of variety of roles will leave you feeling unsatisfied.
Capgemini is a more established consultancy and seem to be over their issues with the merger with E&Y. Capgemini have had a lot of negative press regaring some high profile project failures and Capgemini have been known to cut jobs when the going gets tough. All consultancies do but then for some reason Capgemini seem to do it more regularly. Having said that Capgemini and Logica win a lot of public sector work. Capgemini have a better reputation in implemenation than KPMG. I am unsure who has the edge in advisory.

I wouldn't go for KPMG until all this tax shelter scandal has played out. Other factor to consider is that KPMG are notoriously bad payers. CG might be a better long term bet

Hi "Trying to Help" - point noted - sorry didn't provide much background. As is I have a big 4 background before moving into commercial sector and am looking to go back to consulting. Previous experience is in tech consulting. Academically - undergrads 2:1 and an MBA to boot.Appreciate both responders taking time to respond and help out - any additional pointers would be much appreciated!

John, join CG, I am already in year eight here. Salaries are well above market average at the moment, we overachieved budgets and have (with few exceptions) a balanced work-life. Great atmosphere, nice people. Dont know where we should have fucked up projects recently. Hiring-firing is also not our policy ????Hope you join us!
