I am due to start work for CG soon and have future intentions of an MBA. WHat are the chances of getting sponsored by Cap or anyother firm nowadays-does it happen and if so, what's the tie in afterwards likely to be?Cheers, MM

Pretty slim. View of moist of the firms now is that if you really beleive it would be great for you and your career, YOU invest in it.If you're a high flyer in one of the big firms- so young, bringing in significant revenue yoy, they may consider it, but in general the firms aren't throwing money around now

Why do you want an MBA? They're two a penny now - few consultancies pay a premium for them anymore

I have been told an MBA is a good springboard to manager/direcor level and LBS have sent me various facts and figures stating the mean average salay for a recent grad in consulting from their MBA is £101k. Are they really that devalued if you attend a top school?

They are simply selling their MBA. LBS placement record has not been as good as it used to be.

If you read most of the FT and Business Week journals on business education you will notice that MBA's are back in fashion. Simply put if you are able to get into one of the top shools in say the UK (Say Imperial, LBS or Cass) then you are very employable. I work for one of the bigger Mng Consultancies who are actively recruiting top talent at these top schools.
