All,Offered an interview with IBM BCS and a biblical salary to go with it (i.e. an additional £35k plus bonus, car, benefits) etc. in their SCM operational improvement department. So what do we think? Have heard all sorts of horror stories and am sorely tempted by the cash although it's only a short term thing as opposed to my current operational role.Comments/expriences needed...

Deal or No Deal? Tell Noel he's got a Deal! But only if the car's an Aston, James. Incidentally, they did mention your assignment is a refinery in Iraq, yes?

Salary 75k plus car and benefits. It's in their operational improvement function and it's Band 7-8 if that means anything to you...

I moved from an operational role to IBM 2 years ago- Great firm.... if you like big team full service delivery assignments and yes they offer great benefits. But you know that saying about free lunches? You'll earn that 35K raise and then some. The transition from operational hours to IBM's is tough (yes, I';m sure you think you work hard now, but trust me when you are on a client site miles from home for 6 months- in my case in India- its different)If you really want the job and are a stage in your life where you can work incredibly hard for your money, go for it.

Ask yourself why IBM still need to pay such big salaries... they are a real burn and churn company. You won't get much in the line of decent consulting experience... but if its only for 2 - 3 years then it might be OK. Morale is still rock bottom there
