At interviews should I tell companies which other companies I have applied to?

Down to you're own view my friend. You can either say No and that the interviewing firm is the only one you've applied to. Or say that you've applied to other firms - some of which will be their competitors. I'd personally say one or two and pick some of their rivals. It'll show that you've done (some) research and that you're really going after positions. Saying that you've only applied to one may make you look a bit half ar$ed

At my last interview I asked why they wanted to know (cheeky). They said it was just so they know if there are any time constraints under which they must get an offer to you.Secondly, the companies you apply to indicate your genuine career interests - if you are applying to a wide range of positions then that shows poor focus. I demonstrated through my applications where my interests lay.If you're decent you should have your finger in a few pies, looking to pull out the nicest plum - remember you have the power!!!! Don't let the b**t**ds hold you over a barrel.

Cheers were-rabbit!I had a call from a company one of the big 4 and I said mentioned small niche companies I applied to but i didnt mention the one big 4 i did apply 2. Now I thinking what would they be thinking now? Would they see that as a bad thing?Plus do you think it is a bad idea to actually say names of companies you have applied to should i say or just say other consulting companies?
