Are top consultancy firms (McKinsey, etc..) elitist? Is your family background relevant?Any advice would help. Thanks

Elitism abundant? Yes. But not on family background. Education and achievements are the most important.

These top strat firms are charging clients thousands per day for your time, so selection criteria are certainly pretty elitist! If you haven't been to the top schools and been amongst the best in your class then forget it with these firms...

But, but....hang on....that's just not *fair*!!!I went to a top school, but chose the wrong subjects and ended up with a 2.ii degree from a generic red brick uni.I have since created a career for myself in financial compliance consulting. surely these top strat firms could give somebody a fair crack of the whip? if not, i may need to go home for a bit and ask my parents to hug me a bit more.....
