I am nearing the end of my ACA qualification with a top 4 accounting firm and am now considering my future career options. Having spoken to a number of people I have been getting mixed views re my prospects in strategy consulting. I was hoping to gain some answers from those more experienced than I to the questions below,1. Do you think that I am realistic in my aspirations to move into strategy consulting with a top strat firm after qualifying? If not, then what level of consultancy do you think I could better aim for? What level could I expect to enter at?2. With future aspirations for strategy consulting, would it be a better idea to second to the strategy consulting department with my present employers? From what I understand, they don't really get involved in the blue-sky consulting side. I have had other ideas, such as transferring to the corporate finance department first so that I could bring some commercial and financial modelling experience to the strategy party? Is this viable?3. Having gained an ACA, how much value could a MBA add to my CV? Reason I ask this is that a MBA at a top school would require a sizeable outlay, and like many others I wouldn't really want to go down this road unless I was going to reap significant dividends.I would appreciate your help in this as I plot my next career move.
