I am early 40s, Brit, B.Eng(1st) and spent 12 years building an engineering consulting and IT products business in aerospace from zero to 100+ people mainly in continental Europe. I sold it a couple of years ago, have done a small start up since but am thinking of going into management consulting. This does not seem to be a very standard profile though, do I have a chance and who do think might value this experience ?Thanks for any adviceKDT

why would you want to make this move and end up making money for other people when you are in a position to be master of your own destiny?

KDT - If you still have a good network in the industry, it maybe work discussing some possible collaboration. We provide consultancy services which could run along side your own, on a commission/finders fee basis. Probably worth discussing "off-forum". Being an independent consultant is not that easy either. Hi KDT,as per the other threads and in light of your background, I would agree that you are in a much better situation to establish yourself in consultancy than many others in your age bracket who are looking to brake into this field.Certainly, there would be enough consultancies who would 'value' and be plenty happy to milk you for your contacts and networking ability. However, in my view the key question here is not whether you 'have a chance', but what you are looking for in terms of the values and company culture of your next 'team' and the intellectual excitement factor of the assignments that are on tap through and with that future team.I run a small consultancy, you can check us out at www.primer-corporation.com, and find your situation quite interesting. This forum medium is a somewhat limited communication channel, so, if this is of interest to you, then feel free to drop me a ling to delve into further discussion.Cheers,John
