Public sector consulting appears to receive a lot of bad press on this forum - boring, unchallenging etc. Does anyone have anything positive to say? I had been looking at applying in this area - to firms with specialist public sector practices, as well as niche public sector consultancies. But I am concerned by what I've read here.....Both sides of the argument appreciated!

What is your reason for wanting to specialise in this area? My own experience of PS consulting has been of intense internal politics, inertia and bureaucracy. And that was the good projects. In the bad ones, the levels of muppetry and waste are quite astonishing - sometimes its better not to know what they do with you tax.
