Hello, first time poster :sWhat are people's thoughts on Ernst & Young's (apparently) new Information Systems Assurance and Advisory? Is this just a backdoor route back to consulting?I'm an IT graduate in the UK and I have final round interviews coming up with Accenture and E&Y, and other apps with IBM and deloitte processing. I'm attracted to E&Y's seemingly more pleasant workplace than Accenture, but I can't really work out how ISAAS differs from consulting. Any help appreciated!

The use of the term "Advisory Services" means that they can run a consultancy without explicitly using the term. The regulators will eventually see this, and the likes of E&Y and KPMG will become unstuck again. What short memories we have ! In other words, avoid!

I think it is not as bad as it looks. I work as a consultant in one of the "advisory services" of the big 4. In my opinion, the companies have really learned from the past events and do a lot of work to separate the audit customers from advisory customers. The separation is rather strict and the rules are followed without exeptions. Most have learned the lessons and they will not be forgotten easily. I strongly believe that regulators are not that stupid and know what kind of work is performed in "advisory" part of the company. If you want to feel more secure, ask your possibly future employer what they think about that and what are long term strategies.

I think I will ask them about it, it'll make me look all clued up too :o)But my main question is, how would the actual jobs differ? I'm worried an E+Y IS advisory role would offer a lot less variety than a typical IT consultancy role. I think KPMG and deloitte have similar services (technology advisory) so any feedback from people in those companies would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,Are you aware that ISAAS is a completely different practice to the Advisory Services practice? Also, it is entirely focussed on Assurance Services, e.g. Risk Management. It's is not the same as technology advisory services offered by the others - they have also have seperate IT Assurance arms that are comparable to ISAAS, but these are.
