#0 Advice needed - consulting graduate interested in horizontal shift

Hello all,I was after some professional advice. I was hired by a multi-service consultancy company to work in their strategy division - I started as a graduate 6 months ago. Unfortunately I am not happy with the situation: the partners arent winning much work, the practice is not what I thought it was, and I am not doing what I was hired to do. I feel like I do not have the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to progress in my career, and its almost like a waste of time. I have all excellent accademics etc. My question: how would other companies see my decision, if i chose to leave? Would it be a career suicide, or would they understand my reasoning for leaving? I dont want to appear as an arrogant analyst, its just I have understood that I have to look after my interests and make a move. Shal I hold on for 6 more months - even if i will have little to show at the end? Please help!

I would suggest you start looking for another job that is more challenging but DO NOT leave your job until you have found a new one. I did this mistake and it was hard for other companies to understand how could I leave such a great company as the one I was working - they were probably thinking - something must be wrong:) Good Luck!

How would it be career suicide? If you get hired, all's well and you're steaming ahead. If you don't get hired, you stay in your current job and nothing's changed.
