I have an interview with ThoughtWorks and their website says they're a casual office and casual wear is 'acceptable' for the interview. I am not sure whether to wear a suit or not now. On the one hand you want to present yourself in the best light possible, but I may come across as a better 'cultural fit' if I do as they say on their website. Has anyone been through their interview process and can tell - or even if you haven't - any views.CheersSh

Personally, I'd *always* wear a suit to an interview. As with most situations in general, always better to be overdressed than underdressed. If you're that bothered about needing to be a bit more creative or relaxed, skip the tie/wear a coloured shirt/brown shoes etc to dress it down a little.Good luck,Rody

Hi there,ThoughtWorks doesn't believe that wearing a suit necessarily presents you in the best light. Our interview process will tell us if you're a good fit, not your clothes. We do run a very small beach so you might find that you go to one of our client sites for an interview. You'll be told beforehand if that's the case, and advised on dresscode accordingly.I've found this site for Rody http://www.askmen.com/fashion/fashiontip_150/194_fashion_advice.html. I'd skip the brown shoes, personally.Suzi EdwardsRecruiting Director

Wow Suzi !!! What a cool webiste !! Certainly is addictive ! If everyone in ThoughtWorks dresses that well, maybe I should work there rather than where I do know. Everyone here (me included) dresses like their mum still buys their clothes.

Oh come come... there is nothing wrong with brown shoes per se - depends on style and what you were them with. Also note that the website is American, and whilst we British are not always models of formal elegance, style and smartness in business dress are scarce commodities indeed in the US. In few other places in the Western world can one buy such badly-cut suits, and in few quarters are shirts and ties in complementary tones (taupe, mauve etc) thought aesthetically acceptable. In my time there, my suits (and general business attire) were on quite a number occasions the stimulus for favourable comment / admiraton / female attention.

I agree. Who do you think you are Suzi(from Suzi and the Banshees no doubt) to lampoon British males for their sense of dress. I pride myself on my hairy milkbottle look. Where else in this world, other than London, can you meet so many fine men with hairy ears and halitosis??

I was offered circa £40,000 according to my experience. Did try and get a load more out of them but they wouldn't play ball....Good luck :)
