Hi, I am interested in knowing what are the companies mentioned by David Craig (AKA Neil Glass) in his book "Rip-Off The scandalous inside story of the management consulting money machine".He mentions:- The Butchers- The Family (possibly Cap Gemini?)Any hints out there? Thanks in advanceAlfredoPS: by the way, I highly recommend the book

Alfredo. The book does not mention names, as this would mean legal trouble for our friend. but you can easily work out who they are. I also recommend the book, as i use all the tricks.

Could someone out there pls tell us who the firms are that he is refering to. Many grad like myself do not have a clue. Although there maybe legal implications (i dont know) surely there is a subtle way of doing it...please!

How can i work it out if i have very little experience of consulting as im in my final year at uni. I could speculate but thats all it would be. Why are people so reluctant to state in their opinion who the firms are. If i knew the answers i wouldnt be asking th question. Sorry if i sound ignorant but my knowledge of the industry is embryonic

The Butchers is potentially a reference to Proudfoot Consulting. They're an old consulting firm (60 years). I first thought it may have been Accenture but that didn't seem to fit. I'd say Accenture are the technologist. The family could br PWC Consulting as it references the buyout by a large IT Services company (IBM) all though this could be a number of other such as EY.

The butchers are with absolute certainty Proudfoot Consulting. I read the book over holiday it was really funny to hear the old vocabulary (manload, time studies etc.) again. The more I think about this company & the clones are real "cowboys". God knows why they are still around.

Another amusing read to consider is 'House of Lies' by Martin Kihn. It's more aimed at Strat Consulting, but nonetheless is very apt. It has had me in stiches and for any experienced consultant, and you will lose count of the number of times that an experience or account is one that you can relate to.

Big Blue... you are wrong! The underlying story is about CG... and the shambolic takeover of EY ... trust me I have insider info!
