Hi all, I have aspirations to study at a leading Business School in the States, like many of recent grads who participate in this forum. I have heard about how important the GMAT is in the sense that you don't really need a 740 score to get into the best B school, anything above 680 and you should be ok. In fact my research uncovered that the average GMAT score for HBS was 707 for the class of 2004. So although you do need to do well in the GMAT, it isn't the determining factor that will get you in. What my question is, is what is seen as 'good work experience' that would look impressive to a MBA school admissions tutor? How many years experience is the norm, what is the nature of this experience? Would it be more along the lines of eg, M&A at GS as supposed to M&A at E&Y? Or are the actual projects you worked on much more relevant? Also could someone shed some light onto the nature of the essays that need to submitted? Thanks for your help everyone.
