I've had my first interview at a firm and was told that I would be informed by the end of the week - this was coming up to 2 weeks ago. Is this normal for a HR group to delay response or is this pointless fretting?

Hmmm... it happens from time to time (and August is always bad for this kind of thing - holidays!), but they really should have told you know if there was going to be a delay. Give 'em a call, and ask when you should expect to hear. Regardless of what the answer is, you'll be able to stop fretting, and if the news isn't good, you can get some feedback that should help you next time. You have nothing to lose by reminding them that you are still waiting. Good luck!

Good luck indeed. I applied for a job recently with one of the big integrators, and not only did they never come back to me, but they never even returned my phone calls or e-mails when I contacted them to get an update. I hope this situation isn' t the norm elsewhere.

Sorry to hear that Job Seeker. It sounds pretty shoddy. You have a legal right to see all the interview notes taken about you, and associated commentary. Might be worth pursuing that avenue.

Thanks fo the advice, was in 2 minds about calling but will probably do so tomorrow. If the response is negative then it's closure and I can consider my options. Maybe Knock-and-Run on their office.
