Having just graduated from an MBA programme with Distinction from Kingston Business School, I am now very keen to use my new knowledge to develop my career. I am particularly interested in pursuing a career within Management Consultancy, but my current employment history within a London Social Services department seems to be closing all the doors!Any advice/suggestions would be very useful.

Sounds like you've got the mix of commercial and public experience that many quality consultancies would want. Have you looked at PA's Government Services Division (http://www.paconsulting.com/industries/government_services/). PA have a strong leadership in local and central Government consulting, but have spent a lot of time recently in building up their private sector client base so one of the other groups in PA may be more suitable for you. What do you think of PA's SMP and how does it compare to other practices within PA e.g. pay levels/bonuses, size, amount of work, etc
