Advice from you consultant people out there: I´m going to a interview at Bain (first round). When is it proper to talk about salary? first interview, second,...or only after a job offer (if it happens)? thank you for your comments.

The usual advice is not to be the first to mention it. They should have a reasonable view on where you fit in the organisation (and therefore at what cost) from your CV, and still think it worth talking to you. If they (or any other 'true' strat firm) made you an offer, I'd be surprised if it came down to money being the deal-breaker; salaries tend to be 'competitive'. Good luck.

My advice would always be to talk about salary from a position of strength. Once a firm's decided they want you enough that they make an offer, it's only a small additional sale to get them to up the salary. Whereas in the early interview stages you need to convince them that they should want to hire you - and bringing up salary at such a point in the proceedings is rarely going to play into your hands! Hope that helps & good luck with Bain. Great outfit to join if you make the grade. Tony
