Anybody have an idea of the reputation of Open University's MBA program? I remember an article about two years ago in the Times rating OU as one of the top five in the country. What do you all think?

It is actually very good, but there is a lot of academic snobbery that goes on in consulting, and it often isn't deemed to be on the same level as LBS, Warwick, Cranfield, etc... But if you want to do a flexible qualification, it's definitely worth looking at. I just wonder whether you'd have the time to do a part time qualification, if you are already a consultant?? I did my Masters degree part time, and it nearly killed me!

Nope, not a consultant yet. I'm considering it though.

It was not ranked in the MBA global top 100 in 2004, 14 UK schools were. It is an accredited school though, which is good.

To be fair, most rankings only take into account full-time courses. OUBS is tripple accreditted (1 of only about approx 20/25 schools that are). I'd say there is some snobbery, but overall its considered just as good as most top tier full time courses (i.e. Cranfield/Durham), and only a little behind the top-brands i.e. LBS.If you encounter the snobbery and dont get an interview/job accordingly just because you've got an OUBS MBA, to be honest, thats their loss in the long term.

OUBS does not rank at or near the top as a global MBA school. It does have one MBA accreditation, but the other two accreditations are not MBA accreditations (which is why so few MBA schools bother with them). It is not considered to be a little behind LBS, it is considered by many to be a long way behind. It is also not ranked as highly as UK schools like Cranfield and Durham. The MBA rankings take into account many factors as well as average salaries, which are incidentally also higher amongst people from the other schools you mention.Sorry that's not snobbery it simply isn't as good. If you want an accredited UK course via distance learning then it delivers, but it's misleading to make it out to be other than what it is.

A lot of open universities are coming up and I really think that opting for courses here will be beneficial. It can save a lot of travel time and you get time to prepare and work for anything you like to. My sister used to take her LSAT Prep courses online and she saved a lot of time travelling and didn’t miss a lecture.
