I have recently been applying for various positins with most of the well know names (and some of the others). While most have been prompt and one senior manager even rang me at home to find out more info, the silence at PA has been deafening! Is this normal for them or should I be expecting more?Your comments etc would be much appreciated.G.

Seems to be normal, I waited 8 weeks before eventually calling them. Once I started the ball rolling it all went pretty quickly tho, so get calling!

Sorry to hear that GMac. Sometimes these things happen, and your case isn't an isolated one. If you'd prefer, why not send more details directly to me at "leamhcan@hotmail.com" and I'll look into it for you. Keep trying mate. PA are a great company to work for.

I'd count your lucky stars if I were you. I recently went through five (!) interviews with PA, meeting two Partners, Associate Partner, Management Consultant and HR and all this for a Snr Consultant position. Then they told me that I didn't have enough industry experience which is the sort of thing that you can pick up from my CV. This may sound like sour grapes (it's not) but the whole process was a total shambles. As an aside at the end of my fifth interview I caught up with an ex-colleague who had moved there and he told me that he has to itemise his personal calls from his mobile phone bill. Surely the affect this has on "morale" far outweighs any slight cost saving that this might create. In the end joining PA felt like I would be going back to Public School where if you weren't of the generic type then you couldn't fit in, so I guess they did me a favour not taking me on. Good luck with the search though.

JamesG, interesting comments. Im guessing but the fact you had so many interviews must mean they were seriously considering you. I mean you would have taken up time from TWO partners and an associate one. Again im guessing but mayb one or two thought you were ok, but the others highlighted as your weakness a lack of industry experience and thus overall, they told you it was a lack of industry experience. Ive just recently accepted an offer from PA and i have to say, I have also heard alot about their rather 'tight' expenses policy but I wouldnt let something like itmeised billing and not being able to claim expenses on alcohol dissuade you or anyone else in applying. You will always get bad experiences with all firms as well as firms having policies that not everyone agrees too. Anyway best luck with the job search!

Anon I perfectly understand having a tight expenses policy but PA doesn't even pay relocating expenses nor they interview you if you are not in London. I applied to PA while still abroad and they told me that although interested in interviewing me they wanted to wait until I had relocated in London ( like I am going there without a job....)I interviewed with other firms and ALL paid for my flight or arranged an interview in an office closer to me....If this is their policy to attract the best......
