PA Consultants are known in the market place to be academically intelligent, but quite square. I think we could now add desperate and geeky to that list. How many PA Consultants are going to rave on about their firm on this forum?? Or get people to sign up? Or just suck up? It does seem that you guys are probably responding to your own questions! Very sad indeed. I understand that a lot of you are still quite young and so probably very eager, but come on guys, try to be a little more subtle....

I dont work at PA and have nothing to do with the firm but i feel your being a touch harsh. There is nothing wrong with praising their firm, especially by graduates who have just recieved a job offer with a firm they wanted...probably feels like winning the jackpot and as such you want everybody to know. Infact i find it refreshing that people take great pride in the firm they work for. After all nobody is likely to boast about a firm if its an awful place to work..right? To label them 'academically intelligent, but square' 'desperate and geeky' is generalistic, wrong and insulting. No need!!! Im sure many are not responding to their own questions as well (altho i believe this comment was a joke by yourself). Ive read this forum and PA have come in for some stick to be fair..notably lower pay and if i remember correctly the fact that thay do an awful lot of public sector work, and are often not considered top 4/5. I do find also that those who work there are frank about the firm and readily available to give info on the firm and their opinion on topics brought up. Only my opinion of course...

Anon, why doing public sector work is considered bad? I would have thought government projects good because they affect a lot of people andthey are usually high profile. Is it because they don't pay as much?Thanks

I dont think its bad personally. I think the fact it affects alot of people positively is in itself highly rewarding. I was just merely stating the thoughts of other people who picked out the degree of public sector work PA do as a negative.

Maybe I was a little rude - apologies to you and all the PA folks out there. I just thought it was a little too much. I guess its good to change though, its usually all about Accenture! Also, on the Public Sector front, too much of anything is bad for you, but I personally think that working in the Public Sector can be very rewarding at times.

Positive, enthusiastic staff ?? If that's the worst thing about PA, then tell me where I can join. If you want a real Pain in the Ass, come and join us here in IBM. The morale is Southbank is lower than a rattlesnake's belly. Perhaps that goes some way to explain why most of our staff have applied for jobs in PA, and other quality companies.

Have been away for a little while everyone, so apologies for not responding. Good to see that our new joiners are enjoying their time at PA, and that they are evangelical about the firm. Keep it up chaps ! Over the course of my own career, I have worked for a variety of consulting firms, and I can honestly say that PA comes out far ahead of the competition. PA has its drawbacks (tight expenses policy, lack of presence in certain geographical areas, etc) but these are all relatively minor in the grand scale of things. The quality of the people is great, the ownership structure is unique, and our future is very bright. I do a lot of competitive analysis as well as recruiting for PA, and can tell you that our morale, and our corporate strategy, is streets ahead of what our competitors are doing.

While perhaps not always the case, many today find compliance with a given template reassuring.....Much like buying an expensive opera ticket, holiday etc. few wannabees are prepared to say they hate what they do, bought, experience.....High class herd mentality....?
