I'd hire a distance learning MBA grad any day over a full-time grad, as long as it's a reputable MBA (Open University has a good program). My first reason is that you've got to have some incredibly good self-discipline to be able to complete an MBA through distance learning, and that's the type of discipline my Board and I look for in an employee. My second reason is that I'd take someone who can apply what he's learnt into his work before he graduates any day because that way by the time he's finished his two/three year MBA, he's had more experience in finding out what REALLY works in the big wide world of business. Being a managing director, I can tell you that's on the top of my list.So go ahead, if you want real results and not to just get lumped at the bottom of the "business analyst" recent grad hire pile, do the distance learning MBA.
