Wanted to ask everyone in the know how about Accentures Strategy Practice. There is a lot of conflicting opinions out there regarding them; acn people say that they compete and win against mckinsey, mickinsey say they are not strategic at all just a buffed up it company... any truth out there? i would love some advice as i am considering to join. Thank you very much, C

... you can believe McK! :-) But if it's the best offer, and you want to work in this field, why not give them a go? If you get a reputation for excelling, it will help you jump 18+ months later to a more focused strat house (it does happen). Good luck!

In my opinion it is currently more or less myth. However, these guy´s are getting better and better and thus more competetive to the likes of McK or BCG. At least in Germany they begin winning more bids against McK than it they did before two years. This is especially since the practive will be pushed by ACN executives and the market has recognised that ACN is not only creating ppt but is also able to deliver the concepts they established. So, I would suggest to go ahead and give them a chance. cheers

They are not bad but they are definitely not top notch. If you boil it down they are a good IT consultancy with some additional services added on top of that. So if you can choose between McK, BCG etc. and ACN and want to work with the best. It is not ACN. Sorry..

Well, I think much depands on the actual work you will do at these companies. If you wanna put your designed strategies into action in order to add real value to your customers and not just leave him alone with some hundred ppt slides, I would not suggest the likes of McK or BCG. Sure they have pretty good guys doing some awesome work, however I expect the marked especially for top management strategy work will dramatically change in the course of the next years. Thus, I would look for companies doing the full range of the work.cheers
