Hi all. I just need abit of advice with regard to what b-school I should be applying for? I've recent sat my GMAT and have scored in the mid 700. Most people have told me that with a GMAT score of over 720 plus a good application it should enable me to get into a top 5 school. So my question is should I apply to Harvard, Wharton, LBS or INSEAD - or do I apply to all??? What are the interviews like and are my expectations realistic? I live in the UK so the US school may be a little bit costly for me? Thanks.

GMAT is really just a screening tool to make sure you are up to scratch. The rest of your application is much more important. Most of the information you are after is freely available on the school websites. Think you need to do some research for yourself and decide what you want from your MBA, which schools would be a good fit for you, and whether the rest of your application makes you competitive.

I can't recommend a school for you because I don't know the first thing about you. You need to work out where you want to study, where you think you would fit in, and spend a lot of hours researching this in order to come up with YOUR OWN list of schools. Then maybe visit some of them. Then apply. Any top school will open doors in consulting. It's up to you to be good enough to get into a top school, and then get a consulting job. INSEAD is well known for consulting, and sends many students to McKinsey et al. The only caveat to that is that many of them will be sponsored by MBB and returning to them, rather than career changers.
