#0 UK Consultant Salary?

BearingPointer
07.07.5 00:00

Hi allI am a 'consultant' with BearingPoint, about 3 years of experience - focused on business side (not IT) and am wondering what salary other junior level, i.e. analyst/consultant level staff in other big consultancies earn? I am especially interested in Deloitte/McKinsey/PWC Consulting (where it still exists, as I know it does)/IBM BCS/PA etc.Any figures would be welcomed...I think my salary is USELESS - under £30k!

Well the starting salary for a Uni graduate at a good strategy firm is rarely under £30k, which I'd say would rise to £45k basic by the time you've got 3 years' experience, quite possibly more if you're a top performer. The ex-accounting firm consultancies would be a little lower than this, but only 10-15% below. So yes, think they are having a laugh! Bob

I agree with the others I'm afraid. I have under 3 years post grad experience and am on over £50k and have a nice work-life balance. Get the hell outta there!

Capgem erIs this your basic salary or the total one including bonus and benefits? Sounds quite impresive. Do they recruit at the mo?

All depends on your level of experience (years & type). As far as I am aware we are recruiting heavily in most areas and most levels. Our website is the best place to start from - it should detail the experienced hire process. Also try the consulting focussed recruiters (BLT etc.) who may give you an in. Work your network - everyone knows someone who works for us! We have very standard recruitment practices so people already in can give a very good insight into what to expect. Hope this helps. Feel free to post further Q's if you have them.

Funny how capgemer wont answer your question. He/She is bullsh*ttin! I have a friend in capgem (consulting) and asked them how much 3 years gets them and they said 40K! So how capgemer got 50 is a mystery.

I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss such a claim. Unlike Accenture, where pay is quite rigid depending on your grade, with small deviations based on how you are rated, Cap's pay is tailored more specifically. A number of things are taken into account, such as the division that one is party to (i.e. consulting; technology or outsourcing) and then there is what groups one is aligned to and also your previous rating. Thus, there could be quite a disparity between two people at the same grade. Someone who is three years out of uni, at Cap would be an Associate Consultant and 50K is not unrealistic. If one includes rewards package (which is a 19% of your basic) which one can tailor benefits or just take cash, and throw in a bonus, then its not unrealistic to hit this figure.I moved to Cap from Accenture and I got a significant pay rise. Also the culture, people, company, work-life balance is significantly much better than Accenture. With regards to the people and types of projects that we do, the quality is just as high.

Interesting responses. Success seems to grate on a few people! Ha ha. Although I'm 3 years out of Uni, I didn't join CG straight away. I came in with experience gained at a boutique and was recruited above the Associate Consultant level due to this experience. Anon is correct in that CG packages range greatly so it depends on what you negotiate first off and how well you do on the reviews etc.
