As a recent graduate with some industry experience I'm investigating all avenues into the consulting industry. I'm considering applying for a role with Ernst & Young's new Advisory Services division. Can anyone give me a bit of insight into this new arm of the business? Is there scope to grow my career with EY as they regrow their consulting capabilities? Any idea how the arm will develop in the future? Thanks for any advice in advance.

E&Y are a good firm, but its still very early days for their consulting business. All the accounting firms tried this before, and for all of them, other than Deloittes, it ended in tears. Having said that, why limit your sights to E&Y ? Try the other accounting firms too, or PA also get a good press as a good company to work for. I would STRONGLY advise you to steer clear of the "burn and churn" merchants like Accenture and IBM though, even if initial pay rates are marginally higher.

I've worked for IBM and agree with Johnner - they'll treat you like cr*p whilst smiling sweetly. No one is happy at IBM - the ex PwC frogs are in the pan warming up nicely (the smart ones hopped out some time ago!)
