Quite happy to have been offered a position as a senior consultant at a major firm!A question poses itself, though, I am entering with an MBA and experience from another industry and have no idea what to expect as a "basic package offer". What does it include? Is it negotiable, is negotiating well looked upon? Many thank-yous in advance!

You'll need to be more specific in your question. Which firm? What level ? What group are you joining ? What's your specialisation ?

I'm joining Deloitte Consulting as a senior consultant, working in Financial sector Strategy and Operations. My background is in banking (4 yrs), and my MBA was Strategy-oriented.

With the recent salary band calibration within the firm, you should be looking at 53k-63k (if you are London based). Get ready for some generic PMO in public sector if you do join Deloitte !

Salary banding given above is correct. You could also push for a £5k joining bonus. How do you like Bath (lots of Ministry of Depression work) or Leeds (Dept of Wailing and Penury)? The chances of you escaping these energy sapping public sector jobs are tiny.

Thanks so much for your help!I am probably going to accept their offer, although the money is not quite what you suggested. However I am not joining Deloitte in England, but rather in another western European (EU) country. Will heve to relocate 200 mls south, but still, I am being given a 40% raise compared to my current job.I will try to negotiate a small incease in monthly salary in order to help with the travelling expenses +/- € 250.Any opinions?Salary offered is € 35.000 gross/yr.
