Hi. I have an interview coming up with cap gemini for a postion in the CDC. Could you give me advise as to what it is like, what they ask and what they look out for?

Hi Kim! I'm sorry I'm not going to be able to help with your question but I thought I'd reply because I also have a Capgemini interview for the CDC, in fact it's this Thursday. Let me know if you get any feedback. If your interview is after mine then, of course, I might be able to give you some advice. If you want to pass on your e-mail address it might be good to discuss preparations...Good luck!

Hi Sarah, I also have an interview with Capgemini for the CDC. A friend of mine also had one a while ago (3weeks). If you want to discuss it that would be great. I can tell you what he told me although he was very brief about it (slightly over competitive i assume). I would also appreciate it if you could let me know what they ask you and the general feel of the people, place, work environment when you go. If you decide for whatever reason not to respond, best of luck and I hope everything goes well.

Hi all. First round interview is literally 45 minute fairly informal interview. We started all the way back with why I chose to do the A-Levels I did and then why Nottingham uni, why my course etc etc. The next stage, should you progress, is a mini assessment day (much shorter than those at Deloitte, IBM etc: 4 hours vs 7) with 3 other people. Here you go through a group exercise, case study and one-on-one interview with a senior person at the firm and then you get the chance to meet others in the CDC. I found Capgemini to be an excellent firm who are open about the problems they faced in the past, but also very optimistic about the future. Good luck to all about to undergo the assessments!

Steve, so would you say the first round is more about them getting a feel of your motivations for consultancy and them in particular and how you may fit into their culture? Also what does the partner/senior person interview entail, is it a broad discussion or is it more detailed i.e. with specific questions about the consulting industry etc? You mentioned problems also about their past, what were you actually refering too here? cheers

The first round is definitely about them getting a feeling for you and vice versa. As always with initial interviews they want to see how your attitude seems to match their culture and whether you have the right "fit" for the CDC. The partner interview at the second stage is lengthy - mine was about an hour and a half. The first half of this is about a case study which you receive prior to the day, and then the second half is about you, what motivates you, why consulting, why Cap in particular etc etc. There were a number of completely random questions that you can't prepare for, that show how you react to new and ambiguous situations. As regards their past, when the market was unfavourable, Cap did poorly and became renowned for lay offs. However, this balance is being redressed and Cap is now growing at a steady rate and looking like a much safer prospect.
