I am in the closing stages of signing on with Accenture as a consultant. How many pages are usually in an offer from Accenture? I have heard there is usually a lot of paper to read and sign.

How much paper work is involved? Would you recommend a lawyer review before signing? Incidentally, I am making a career move from industry into consulting. I have about 10 years experience.

I think it would be extreme overkill to have a lawyer (who will charge you an arm and a leg!) peruse over what is essentially a standard working contract. Contact contains usual standard terms and clauses. If you're that concerned of what you will be bound to, by the terms and conditions of a consulting contract, then maybe you should ask yourself whether the working practices and associated lifestyle of working for a consulting firm, are for you and indeed consulting itself. After all, having been in industry for ten years where no doubt you've become quite comfortable with your surroundings, it will probably be quite a culture shock when things never stand still. For example, every six months, you'll have a new project, role, client, location, operating strategies, and processes and indeed new consulting collegues etc. Effectively no sooner have you become the King or Queen of the castle and are comfortable in your surroundings, it's time to move on and once again become the Pauper have to work your way back again. I know many of my collegues who were members of my graduate start group (about eight years ago - BTW Big hello to those who were in the UK AC (As we were known back those days) Oct'97 Start Group) who found this frustrating and consequently they moved to a safer and more comfortable line roles in industry.Best of LuckS

Thanks for the words of wisdom S. I am craving that constant change indeed. I get tired of coming into the same office day in and day out. Sure the benefits and comaradarie of working in a large company in industry are appealing. But the work becomes too routine after a while. Or it is the same thing as last year but with a new name or catchy slogan. Can expand on the "standard terms and clauses" that you mentioned. Thanks so much. BB
