Got one for the S&O Group Practice. What happens after this? Another interview or do they make offers after you complete the supposedly 5 hour assessment!? Do you get grilled proper?

I recently attended a Deloitte Assement Day and the process was thorough enough for them to form an opinion, although also something of a ´beauty contest´. Deloitte is a premium end company and can afford to be choosey, they major on ´fit´ (see other messages) and IMHO rely fairly heavily on fickle metrics in determining suitability. This is probably fair given their high charge out rates and need to impress clients from initial contact. Good luck with an attractive organisation, and fitting in! An offer would either follow from the assessment of a subsequent senior level interview.

Beware early enthusiasm! My experience was that much post-assessment enthusiasm was negated by complete disinterest from the senior partner in a subsequent "final" interview. Result of their inconsistency - a complete waste of my time. Quite how two partners from the same part of the organisation can have such different views is beyond me but, from speaking of my experience to others, is quite common with this organisation.

I agree with the comments from the previous poster. My situation with DC was even more bizzare. I was being considered for a position in their CIO advisory practice Strats and Ops divison. I had three in depth one on one interviews with directors, over the course of three months. First interview one was so-so. Didnt get too much enthusasim and wouldnt have been surprised if it hadnt progressed further based on how interview went. Despite, this I as asked to consider role in CIO practice. Next two interviews, however, were the complete opposite, with actual people in CIO and there was positive rapport being built and a match in terms of requried skills and experience. It convinced me that this was the place to work and set up home for forseeable future. However, no offer resulted, and some digging indicated that it was the first director who i saw that scuppered the whole deal. From my perspective, a complete waste of time and effort on part of both sides. Had that initial director, who wasnt even in CIO acted as he did in the end (3 months earlier!) DC could have saved a number of people a lot of time and effort. Even though some time has passed since then, I'm still a bit aggreived at the whole process, since if one goes to final interview and the interviewer wants you on board, then one would think job is yours.

First of all, make sure you spell the name of the firm correctly (it's Deloitte BTW).Expect to be grilled. You have to impress two possibly bored Deloitte partners. Competition is high: only candidates who were highly rated at the first interview are then invited to the assessment day. In many cases none of the participants makes an impression good enough to receive an offer. That said, be confident and smart and keep smiling. At your level, it is more about your personality then about what your knowledge.GOOD LUCK
